This Garden Locust is quite a warrior. His first visit to me was quite an unlucky one; he came flying and bumped into a window, falling into the face of my cat, Ginger. The surprised cats first reaction was to jump backwards, and that was when I saw the poor creature had a missing leg due to a past injury. I tried to step between Ginger and him, but then I let the creature go away; after all, nature is nature. The cat very quickly grasped the fluttering warrior and trotted away.
He set it down – perhaps thinking it had died – only for the daring fellow to bolt away from him and fly through a fenced of veggie-patch and onto the wall. The confused cat ran through the gate and paced at the back end where he could not get out from before turning and bolting through the gate and to the wall.
That was when I quickly managed to grab some photos of the beautiful insect, whose tiny little heart was probably pumping really fast. He flew away after a while and got captured by the cat again, But this time, My other cat, Tiger, fell into a fight with Ginger and the lucky survivor jumped onto my camera before quickly flying off elsewhere.
A true example of the common saying, ‘The enemy of my enemy is my friend’.
